North-West Evaluation Association (NWEA)
LHPUSD students take benchmark assessments to gauge progress towards meeting academic standards. NWEA is the North-West Educational Assessment and is administered on the computer in Math and English (Reading & Language). NWEA is aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Teachers utilize the results to provide additional instruction and/or enrichment for students. The NWEA encourages students to take responsibility for their learning as their progress is monitored over time. Many students have been motivated to re-take this assessment in order to improve their scores. Purpose of Assessment: To measure progress toward California's state-adopted common core state standards.
Who takes the test: Grades 3-11. When: 2-4 time per year.
