In 2020, by a 76% margin district voters generously approved Measure M. The purpose of this seven-year parcel tax is to:
To improve access to technology in classrooms
To provide enrichment opportunities for students
To provide high quality professional development for teachers
To increase student achievement
The parcel tax funding supports programs at all district schools. Each year the Governing Board approves funding priorities for parcel tax monies. The Governing Board established a Parcel Tax Oversight Committee to: 1) review district expenditures to ensure that (a) parcel tax proceeds are expended only for the purposes set forth in the ballot measure; (b) no parcel tax proceeds are used for any teacher or administrative salaries or other operating expenses, (c) parcel tax proceeds are maximized.
There are two types of Exemptions offered
1. Senior Exemption - One parcel owned and occupied by one or more persons 65 years of age or over shall be exempted upon approval of an application for exemption by the owner of the parcel.
2. Contiguous Parcels Exemption - Two contiguous parcels, where at least one of those contiguous parcels is used for owner-occupied single family residence purposes and where both parcels are held under identical ownership, may be taxed as a single parcel for purposes of this special tax. This exemption may not be applied to other parcels under the same ownership.
If you feel you qualify for either of the above exemptions, please call 650-879-0286 to get the Parcel Tax Exemption Application.
