I want to start off by saying how wonderful it was to come together in-person for Open House, Jones Gulch, Field Day, Preschool Promotion and 5th Grade Promotion at the end of the school-year. The strong sense of connectedness and community was felt and seen by all. The smiles, fun and togetherness had been greatly missed due to COVID-19.
We had some goodbyes after the last day of school that I wanted to share with all of you. Ms. Jennifer Domitilli retired after 33 years working for LHPUSD. Her daily presence will be missed, but we wish her all the best in the new chapter of her life. Ms. Brett Miller and Ms. Jennifer Baca also said goodbye to La Honda Elementary and will equally be missed.
Looking ahead to the 2022-2023 school-year we will be welcoming new staff members to our team and Kristina Kern will become the new Site Director of La Honda Elementary. *Information pertaining to your child’s teacher will be shared in early August.
As the 2021-2022 school-year comes to a close, I wanted to take time to acknowledge and appreciate the students, families, staff and greater La Honda community from the last six years while I have been the principal of La Honda Elementary. My time as principal has taught me so much and allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. La Honda Elementary is a special place; full of kindness, togetherness and love. It has been a privilege to be part of this school community and I look forward to staying connected in my new role as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Design for LHPUSD in the upcoming 2022-2023 school-year.
Wishing everyone a fun-filled and restful summer. I look forward to seeing you back in August.
