School Meal Program
Thanks to State and local funds and generous support from TomKat Ranch, we have a new district kitchen, which will provide nutritious and delicious food to students and staff every day. Our new menu will take advantage of fresh, healthy, local food sources.
Here are some of the highlights of the school meal program this year:
- We will serve delicious, nutritious, seasonal meals every day.
- We will use a rotational menu that will include complete and balanced meals.
- We will eliminate trans-fats and High Fructose Corn syrup as well as reduce and or eliminate where possible, refined sugars and refined flours.
- We will cook non-processed foods from scratch and eliminate all highly processed menu items
- We will serve fresh fruits and vegetables every day.
- We will serve Antibiotic and Hormone-free or Organic milk daily.
- We will serve hamburgers and hotdogs that are hormone and antibiotic free as well as grass finished.
- We will transition to whole wheat or whole grain bread and baked goods.
- We will purchase local, regional and organic foods, as well as foods purchased from small local companies, whenever possible.
- We will monitor nutrition and costs to make sure that we serve students the best food within our district budget.
These improvements were made possible through the year-long efforts of the Food Group and special support by TomKat Ranch. We hope you and your children will be pleased with the delicious and healthy results of our efforts.
