This is my sixth year teaching. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be teaching Reading and Math Intervention. Prior to teaching at La Honda Elementary School I was a student teacher for half a year in first grade, and a full year in fifth grade at Pescadero Elementary School. I was also a parent of a La Honda Elementary student for six years. Prior to becoming a teacher I worked for 20 years in the high tech industry as a customer service professional and a project manager for website and database development.

I received my bachelor of arts degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in education and Chicano studies from Cal. State University Monterey Bay where I graduated with distinction in my major. I received my teaching credential through CalStateTEACH, a California State University program through the Monterey Bay campus.

I am so excited to be teaching third & fourth grade in my “own” classroom for the first time!  Last year I worked at La Honda as the reading & math intervention teacher and prior to that I was at Hatch Elementary student teaching first, second & third grades.

Teaching is a second career for me.  Prior to deciding to obtain my teaching credential, I worked in the medical device industry for twelve years as a clinical educator, marketing manager & product manager. I received my teaching credential from San Francisco State University, and my bachelor’s degree in Public Relations & Political Science from San Jose State University.I am a native Californian and have lived in both in the Bay Area and Orange County.  My husband and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary this year.  We have two daughters, one going into 5th grade and one going into 3rd grade in the Spanish immersion program at Hatch Elementary.

My passions include – education (of course!), vegetarian cooking & eating, being a good mom, playing with my crazy dogs, exploring the world and reading great books.
